What we’re building
Magid & Company works with founders to scale their startups and navigate fundraising. We’re building a service that doesn’t quite exist anywhere else - a completely un-conflicted source of fundraising advice for founders after seed. We think founders need this - and can’t get it - because while investors are more Abundant than ever, they’re nearly all Conflicted.
We think that the world of As, Bs, and Cs is similar to how the seed market looked back when Y Combinator started. We also think there’s a similarly large opportunity if we get it right.
There’s only two of us at the moment, and there’s more that we want to do than we have time to actually execute. We’re recruiting companies while helping companies while running workshops while writing guides while doing diligence while doing all the normal things that startups need to do. We need someone to help with...all of that.
What you’d do
- This is going to be a broadly defined and rapidly evolving role. The idea is for you to join and learn what we do and eventually grow into being a partner.
- At the start, you’ll be responsible for supporting us logistically across everything our companies need from us and our content work.
- You’ll work alongside us doing diligence on companies that want to work with us.
- You’ll help companies build out their investor networks by identifying potential investors.
- You’ll be joining us as we work with companies to craft pitches and stories, helping those companies refine their messaging, and helping them stay on schedule while fundraising.
- As you gain experience your role will evolve to working 1-1 with companies in our portfolio.
- This job will be based in New York City.
We’re looking for someone who...
- Has an incredibly high capacity: you’re ready to rapidly climb a steep learning curve and take on as much responsibility as fast as you can handle.
- Is accelerating their learning curve: you want to grow rapidly into a leadership role.
- Takes ownership: you can take broadly defined objectives, create your own plan, and run it as far forward as possible, checking in where needed.
- Is extremely organized and process driven: you’re good at staying on top of multiple threads, and creating and iterating on processes to make them better.
- Is a clear thinker and effective communicator: you can break down complicated concepts so anyone can understand it and are great at distilling ideas into compelling arguments.
- Is coachable and collaborative: you work best with others, and thrive on giving and taking feedback.
- Is mission-driven: you care deeply about founders, early stage startups, and helping them scale and grow.
