Founders need to prepare to face a tough fundraising market. Gone are the days of investors banging down doors to give you money. Now, you need to get you and your company in shape to run a great fundraising process, well in advance of your first investor pitch.

We’re running an intensive 3-week bootcamp for startup CEOs like you to do just that: prepare to give yourself the best shot at raising your Series A.

Who We Are

We’re Aaron Harris and Janelle Tam, and we first started helping companies raise venture capital at Y Combinator. There, we built and ran the Series A Program, and in so doing developed a systematic process for raising Series As and Bs and directly helped almost 300 companies raise over $3 billion dollars in venture capital funding from many of the top VCs in the world. We’ve helped companies get the capital they need to change the way we hire internationally (Deel), trade NFTs (OpenSea), do our taxes (CoinTracker), run our businesses (Middesk, CaptivateIQ), invest (Ajaib, Titan), and fight addiction (Quit Genius) -- just to name a few.

We’ve studied this process for years and encoded it in the definitive Guide to Raising a Series A that has been read hundreds of thousands of times and translated into Russian, Japanese and Korean. While a partner at YC, Aaron also funded 22 unicorns (and counting).

Magid & Co

Magid is the company we’re building to take everything we know about Series As and Bs and bring it to a wider audience. We’ve been doing that for the last year 1:1 with founders and in groups through a series of workshops that cover the entire fundraising process.

Founders think we’re doing a good job:

Magid's workshop was instrumental in achieving a great outcome for our Series A raise. It's clear that Aaron & Janelle understand the fundraising process better than anyone else in the world, and I recommend it to all my founder friends.

Aaron and Janelle have been an invaluable resource. They are more than just fundraising counsel, they’re the partners we can trust to buoy us through the ups and downs of the startup journey.

Structure

We’re taking our workshops and refining it further: we’ve created a new 3-week intensive Series A bootcamp to help CEOs lay the groundwork for a successful fundraise — well in advance of their first investor pitch. We’re picking a small, select group of CEOs that are at least 3-6 months out from raising their Series A. We’re intentionally limiting our first cohort to just 8-12 companies so that we can spend dedicated, focused time with each participant, and cultivate a close and intentional community.

Each week, we’ll focus on one of the core components of a successful fundraise: story, metrics, and relationships. We’ve designed the bootcamp to include weekly 1:1 (remote) coaching sessions because we’re observed firsthand how deeply personalized and specific good fundraising advice needs to be. We’re combining this with weekly group workshops because we know how valuable it is to have a community of founders going through the same process to provide accountability and emotional support.

Cost

$5,000 per CEO.

Once you complete this bootcamp, you should feel confident in the fundraising strategy we’ll develop together, with a general timeline for when you want to go out and a clear plan for what you have to do in the months leading up to it to build relationships, get the business in the right place, and generate investor excitement through the story you tell.
